Mixed Media Card 21 – Geometric Design

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases

This is the twenty first part in a 30 part series showing you different mixed media cards that I have made. These will all include video tutorials and I am hoping that you will get some great ideas and make your own mixed media cards for all occasions. This geometric card is super fun for all.

This is a very simple but effective geometric card. Give it a try!

The intention is that you can make your cards using the craft supplies that you already have at home. Take my ideas and adapt them to what you have right now. Hopefully you will also find some new skills along the way.

So, let’s get started.

You will need:

  • Piece of card or card blank
  • Pen / pencil and ruler
  • Watercolour or acrylic paint (or colouring pens)
  • Something to stamp detail (eg toilet roll tube)
  • Printable Greeting (free, see below)

Simple Instructions

  • Take a pencil and ruler (or like me, a black pen and ruler) and mark out your design. I did it freehand but you could measure it out if you prefer. Simply draw your lines where you want them.
  • As an alternative you could apply low-tack masking tape where you want the card to stay white.
  • Then, paint your chosen colour in all the areas that are not in your ‘lines’. Let it dry.
  • Add detail in whatever colour you choose. I stamped black circles using the end of a toilet roll tube. Choose anything you like to get interesting shapes and textures. I also added some black detail by dabbing my brush on the card in various places. Let that dry.
  • If you used masking tape then carefully remove it.
  • You can add more texture and detail using watercolour paints or more acrylic paint.
  • You could add a greeting if you like. There are free printable ones available below.
  • You are all finished!
