So quick and easy that you can make as many as you like to create a display. Plus, you can simply replace them whenever you fancy a change of decor.

You will need:

Prepare Your Flower Pieces

You will need flower petals and a small circle of paper. You can use my free template or simply draw your own. If you would like my free template simply complete your details below and you will be able to download it.

Use your template (or freehand petals) to draw and cut out some flower petals. There are no rules on how many you use but I have made them with 8, 10 and 12 petals. All of these worked so I recommend you experiment and see which you like best.

You will also need one circle from the template (about 3″ across is fine). For the centre of your flower you need to cut out a rectangle of paper. I used a strip of paper that is 2″ by 22″. That is because my wallpaper was 22″ wide. You can use whatever size you like. The wider the strip the further out it will stick. The longer the strip the fatter your centre will be.

Make your Flower Centre

Fold the long strip in half with the pretty side on the outside. Run your fingernail or a ruler along the fold to make sure it is a strong crease.

Cut into the strip on the folded side about 1/4″ in from the end and until about 1/4″ from the other edge. Repeat along the whole length. You are making lots of narrow strips held together along one side.

Roll up the strip and glue it closed. I used hot melt glue but you can use any glue. Just make sure it is secure before you let it go.

Fold your Petals

Curl your petals so that they curl up towards the pretty side (or at least don’t curl the other way). Then cut a small amount (maybe about half an inch) off the pointed end of the petals. This is an optional step but it does make it much easier to glue the petals together.

Then fold each petal at the end you just cut to encourage that curling you did earlier. Do not run the fold all the way along the petals. They are now ready.

Assemble your Flower

Apply a little glue to the back of one petal at the widest part of the petal. Stick it to the same place on another petal. Keep repeating this until you have glued all your petals together in a row. Remember that you are only applying glue at the widest part of the petals.

Curve your petals around and glue the first one to the last one. This should form your flower. If you have trouble curling your petals round enough to glue them all together try adding in a couple more petals.

If you are not using hot melt glue then you will have to hold or clip your petals in place while they dry.

You now have a flower but it does not have a centre.

Place your circle of paper, pretty side up, on your works surface. You are going to glue the petals to it and then add your centre in the middle. BUT check that it is all going to work before you use any glue.

Place your circle of petals on the paper circle and then position your flower centre in the middle. If it does not fit then trim a little more off the petals at the centre. When you are happy cover your paper circle in glue and glue the petals and centre in place.

Congratulations, you have made your first flower. Now, how many more should you make?

3D Wallpaper Art Display Ideas

Obviously you can simply make one of these and hang it up and it will look gorgeous.

But they can look really effective in groups.

I have never tried it but you could also make 2 of these and glue them back to back to hang in a window or anywhere where you can see both sides.

I hope that you are feeling inspired to create your own displays to match your decor, your mood or the season.

If you like making your own decor then how about making your own book page art for your walls. Super easy to do and very trendy.

Or how about some book page roses for your sideboard?
