hi and welcome to christinescrafts.com
0:02
today i'm going to show you how to make
0:04
some lovely little christmas trees from
0:07
great for hanging from your christmas
0:08
tree or anywhere else you fancy
0:11
you can see some i've made here you can
0:13
use any colors you like any buttons
0:15
you've got hanging around
0:16
or buy some specially to match your
0:18
decor so all you're going to need is the
0:21
three little ones that represent the pot
0:23
so perhaps little brown ones
0:25
and then a set of buttons getting
0:27
smaller and smaller and smaller
0:29
so that you can get that special
0:32
you're going to need some thread and a
0:34
needle just scissors to cut your thread
0:36
i'm using a blue thread to go with my
0:38
blue buttons but you could use a
0:40
contrasting thread if you like
0:42
i'm using embroidery silks because
0:45
they're a nice thread to use they make a
0:46
nice loop at the top to hang it on your
0:49
so it really is the best option
0:52
so to start with get yourself a nice
0:56
it's going to go all the way through
0:57
your tree twice and form the loop
1:01
and thread up your needle
1:04
now you'll notice i've laid all the
1:06
buttons out in order so that there's no
1:08
confusion and i don't get them on and
1:09
then realize i've done something silly
1:12
so that's what i recommend just lay them
1:17
and then start at the top of your tree
1:21
and poke your needle through and get
1:24
that button onto your yarn
1:29
third one down poke through and just
1:33
keep going adding the buttons to your
1:34
yarn one after the other
1:37
now if you've got a button with four
1:38
holes in it i recommend
1:40
doing the diagonally opposite holes so
1:43
that they sit nicely on your thread
1:44
and will line up nicely with the other
1:46
ones that may only have two holes in
1:49
so you'll see i'm getting to the bottom
1:54
oh bit stuck on that one it's going
1:58
if you have any trouble it probably just
1:59
means you need to use a narrower needle
2:03
and then the three for the pot to go on
2:15
once you get to the bottom you're going
2:19
and go back the other way so pull them
2:22
see what it looks like make sure you're
2:24
happy with it if you don't think it's
2:26
quite the right shape not quite the
2:28
not quite the right colors you can
2:30
simply slide them all off and start
2:33
but assuming you like it you're going to
2:37
and you're going to go back up through
2:38
all the buttons in the opposite
2:41
so again if you've got four holes on the
2:42
bottom go up through one that's
2:46
and just work your way through so that
2:49
you're going to end up
2:51
with the end of the yarn at the top of
2:57
see if i have trouble with this tight
3:01
a little bit not too bad
3:04
keep working your way through
3:23
and then when you get right to the top
3:26
go through those last couple of buttons
3:29
and then you're going to pull the thread
3:30
through but keep hold of the other end
3:33
you don't want your yarn to disappear
3:36
so you need to be holding both ends all
3:40
so pull that through hold both ends
3:43
pull it tight you can take your needle
3:47
make it a little bit safer you'll see i
3:49
didn't but i will do in a moment
3:52
once it's tight you're going to tie a
3:54
little knot in the top to keep your tree
3:56
so that it keeps that form and doesn't
4:00
go wandering off up the yarn
4:02
okay there goes my needle
4:06
so i'm just going to do a little knot on
4:09
just to hold it in place pull it tight
4:12
make sure i'm happy with it
4:15
get that knot completed
4:18
and now i've just got to decide how long
4:22
so that i can hang it on my tree a tree
4:27
so i'm just going to form a loop
4:31
pull the yarn through it and that'll
4:33
make me a little knot
4:36
decide on the length and then
4:39
i'll cut off the spare thread at the top
4:44
and there you go all finished so i've
4:47
now got my little tree that i can hang
4:50
i'll probably put mine on the christmas
4:52
tree but you can hang them on twigs on
4:54
windows whatever you fancy
4:56
so there it is hanging against a piece
4:58
of wood just so you can see how it
5:01
so thank you for watching and enjoy
5:03
making your christmas tree
5:04
christmas button trees even please
