Everyone adores flowers and these paper flowers will last for ages (years), Even better, they are made from old magazines so you are re-using something rather than throwing it away. They are super quick and easy to make with very few skills and hardly any equipment. If you want a particular color theme you can use old children's picture books or even colored paper. Make a few and place them in a vase to match your home decor or how about presenting a friend or loved one with a bouquet of them, If you like written instructions then check out the step-by-step instructions on my blog at https://christines-crafts.com/gorgeous-magazine-flowers/ Enjoy your flower making and please comment below to let me know how you get on.

hi I'm Christine of Christine scraps
0:04
today I'm going to show you how to make
0:06
flowers from your old magazines great
0:08
upcycling project make them for yourself
0:11
make them for a bouquet for a gift
0:13
really easy to do you don't need much
0:16
equipment at all so let's get started
0:19
these are the flowers we're going to
0:21
make as you can see I've made a few
0:23
various different colors your color
0:25
depends on the page you use from your
0:27
magazine some of these were used a
0:29
child's book to get a nice pink color so
0:33
what do you need to do these flowers
0:34
you're gonna need a pair of scissors
0:38
some florist tapes a nice idea for stems
0:41
but it's not essential some masking tape
0:45
or decorators tape some double-sided
0:48
sellotape really easy to use some sort
0:52
of stick a bamboo stick some florist
0:55
wire even a pencil at a push and
0:57
obviously a page out of a magazine so
1:02
the first thing we're gonna do is make
1:03
that page rectangular I ripped mine out
1:06
of the magazine so I'm just gonna tidy
1:08
up that edge I'm not taking any fancy
1:11
measurements I'm making it perfect but
1:13
just tidying up the rough edge it's
1:17
because we're gonna start folding it
1:18
shortly so we want a nice edge to work
1:20
to so once you've got a nice page you're
1:25
going to decide which side is the side
1:27
you want that's my side I want on the
1:30
outside so that's the one you fold in so
1:34
fold your page in half lengthways and
1:37
then take the top layer and fold it back
1:40
to that fold so you get a nice little
1:43
concertina effect once you happy with it
1:47
turn it over do the same to the other
1:50
side so what you're gonna have it's all
1:55
folded basically into four now we're
2:01
gonna open that top up and we're gonna
2:04
get the double-sided tape I'm going to
2:07
put a length of it along the bottom
2:10
there so that we can stick the top
2:13
down for only sticking it at that one
2:16
edge okay it's a good selfie tape and
2:23
then the hardest part of all these
2:25
projects peeling the protective paper
2:28
off the double-sided sellotape always a
2:32
challenge once you've got your paper off
2:37
fold your magazine back and stick it
2:43
down make sure it's firmly stick firmly
2:46
stick firmly stuck and then repeat for
2:49
the other side so open it up get your
2:53
double-sided tape put a length of it on
2:59
right at the edge there right now the
3:02
bottom
3:08
and the usual problem make sure it's
3:11
firmly down and then try and take the
3:14
backing paper off and then fold top of
3:22
the page down so now you've got it
3:25
folded into four and you've stuck those
3:27
edges down so at the top there it still
3:31
opens up the other end you've stuck the
3:35
edges down so now we're going to form
3:38
the petals so those edges that are not
3:41
glued down you've got those edges that's
3:43
the edges we're going to cut for my
3:44
petals so take your scissors and cut a
3:48
little strip but don't cut all the way
3:50
through you need to leave that bit at
3:51
the bottom with the double-sided tape on
3:53
it and leave that to keep it hold it all
3:56
together
3:56
so you'll see I'm cutting them about
4:00
five millimeters half a centimeter apart
4:03
it's up to you how wide your petals are
4:05
it'll just depend how intricate your
4:07
flower is at the end obviously have
4:10
speeded this up so you once you get to
4:13
the other end it's time to start making
4:15
it into a flower so all the way along
4:18
the length that you didn't cut we're
4:21
gonna put some more double-sided tape
4:22
and that's what we're going to use to
4:25
stick it to its stem let's get a
4:28
protective paper off
4:30
find what you're using for your stem and
4:33
place it at one end and start rolling
4:36
and you're just gonna keep rolling to
4:41
form your flower try and keep the bottom
4:44
in line so that you end up with a nice
4:48
detailed flower where the top of the
4:50
petals are all about the same length and
4:52
they all come together keep rolling
4:57
right until you get to the end and then
5:00
basically you have a flower and all
5:02
we're going to do is make it more like a
5:04
real flower instead of having that sharp
5:08
end at the bottom of your flower a blunt
5:11
end even we're going to get some masking
5:14
tape and turn it into more of a conical
5:16
shape so it looks more like the base of
5:19
a real flower
5:21
so stick it on so that it overlaps
5:23
between your flour and your stick we'll
5:27
call it a stick but it's your flower
5:29
stem and just keep wrapping keep going
5:33
round keep dipping it in doesn't matter
5:36
you getting it folded it's a little bit
5:38
untidy you're going to end up with it a
5:41
little untidy because it's going right
5:43
round that flower and then just around
5:46
the stem at the bottom so keep wrapping
5:49
you keep wrapping until you're happy
5:52
with it till you think you've got rid of
5:54
that step now this is a very interesting
5:57
task if you're a cat so you'll notice a
5:59
pore has arrived and it's gonna get a
6:03
whole lot better she's coming for a
6:05
closer look at that stick that's moving
6:06
around so we'll just pause and get rid
6:10
of the cat okay so keep going until
6:18
you're happy with it and then cut your
6:22
masking tape and just get the end on it
6:32
doesn't matter how much masking tape you
6:33
have on here it's entirely up to you if
6:35
you didn't want very much or if you want
6:37
loads as you'll see it's made it more of
6:42
a tapered bottom to the flower it's not
6:46
too pretty just yet
6:48
make sure it's firm make sure it's tight
6:50
and then I recommend again a little bit
6:54
of double sided tape and sticking it on
6:56
to that masking tape it's not essential
6:59
but I found the florist tape sticks a
7:02
lot better with a little something to
7:03
help it get started make sure that's
7:07
firm get your paper off and then away we
7:12
go again you'll notice that pesky cats
7:14
appeared in the corner so let's get our
7:17
florist tape and start at the top make
7:21
sure you completely cover all your
7:23
masking tape so right at the top start
7:27
wrapping it round once you've wrapped
7:30
all the way around you're going to start
7:32
to work your way down the mask into
7:35
making sure your overlapping all the
7:38
time you don't want any of the masking
7:40
tape or the stick to show through you
7:42
want it to look like it was completely
7:44
natural base of the flower and a green
7:47
stem so once you get down onto the stem
7:50
it gets a lot easier again you can see
7:54
I've sped this up a bit so it's not so
7:56
boring to watch and you can just roll it
7:59
down
8:00
we're upping it round when you get to
8:03
the bottom cut your masking tape put
8:07
your end in tightly firm it all together
8:09
and you've finished your flower and
8:11
that's all there is to it and then you
8:14
can repeat for as many of these flowers
8:15
as you like and there you go so well
8:19
done thank you for watching please take
