    Make your own Pattern Weights

This is the third part in the series showing you how to make your own sewing supplies. The first part was a pincushion that sharpens your pins that you can find here. The second part was a needlebook to store all your needles safely and that is available here. This tutorial will show you how to make your own pattern weights so that you no longer need to pin your pattern pieces to your fabric. You may well have seen them used on television programmes like The Great British Sewing Bee. Pattern weights save you time and prevent pin marks on fine fabrics. I am loving them so I have…

    Washcloth Roses

It is really nice to give gifts that look gorgeous. Washcloth roses achieve that gorgeous look.  I wanted to give some homemade bath bombs, lip balms, etc in gift bags to friends. What they needed were some gorgeous flowers made from washcloths (flannels) to complete the kits. You could also use them for a different Valentine’s Day gift. I thought they might be difficult but despite one fiddly bit they are actually rather easy and quick to do (after the first one). This beautiful Christmas music bauble is so easy and inexpensive to make. You could make a lot of them and theme your tree! I have used some old music for mine as I love the effect. The whole bauble only took about 15 minutes (plus drying time). Once I had the completed bauble I decided to add some colour with some tiny red roses that I already had.  You will need: Christmas bauble (new craft bauble or old bauble you no longer want) Decorative paper (thin) Decoupage glue Brush Any further decorations you like Step 1: Cut your chosen paper into small pieces.
