0:00
hi in this video i'm going to show you
0:02
how to make the perfect christmas
0:03
decoration for that knitter in your
0:07
really easy to make providing you can do
0:09
a little bit of knitting
0:11
or you can find someone that can uh all
0:14
you're going to need few little cocktail
0:16
and an ornament to put it in and some
0:19
yarn i've chosen red for christmas
0:21
so i'm christine of christinescrafts.com
0:24
and this channel is dedicated to
0:27
so if you like this video please give me
0:29
a thumbs up and subscribe to see the
0:33
so this is what i'm making mine out of
0:36
i've got a little plastic bauble
0:38
that opens up it's really important it
0:40
opens because you're going to put your
0:43
some cocktail sticks or similar to do
0:47
i'm going to cut these down but i'm not
0:49
going to cut them down until i finish
0:51
something to hang your bauble and of
0:54
i'm using red because it's very festive
0:56
but you can use whatever you've got
0:58
available or what matches your christmas
1:01
so the first thing you need to do is
1:03
form a little slip knot
1:05
to get you started with your knitting
1:09
if you're unsure how to do that there's
1:10
a link below to a video i've got showing
1:14
so once you've got your knot onto one of
1:17
you're going to use the other one as the
1:19
other knitting needle
1:21
and you're going to cast on so as you
1:25
that's what i'm doing here
1:28
you're going to cast on as many stitches
1:34
now that's a little bit vague but it
1:36
depends on the size of work that you're
1:40
on mine on the cocktail sticks i've done
1:45
and this allows me to have a few on each
1:48
at the end so you'll see
1:52
that i have a little bit of trouble
1:54
wooden cocktail sticks are not ideal for
1:58
but it is possible it's a little bit
2:00
fiddly and sometimes you just have to
2:02
accept that you've got to take your
2:04
cocktail stick out and pull it over with
2:08
or adjust it so take your time i've sped
2:12
up the film so you don't get bored but
2:14
take your time and cast on
2:15
as i say about 10 stitches
2:19
and you are really just using your
2:26
keep checking and make sure you're happy
2:30
you can see i just did a little check
2:33
and i sort of made the decision right
2:35
i'm going to keep going
2:37
once you're happy you've spread it out
2:39
on the stick and had a look i made sure
2:41
it's going to be enough
2:43
you need to start knitting so that's
2:45
what you'll see me doing now
2:47
so we're actually knitting and the
2:49
stitches are therefore
2:51
moving across from one needle to the
2:55
you might find you have to knit quite
2:56
differently because you can't hold the
2:59
in quotes knitting needles as you
3:03
but it's okay you'll find if you take
3:05
your time you'll succeed
3:07
i am not a good knitter at all i am very
3:11
and i tend not to finish projects
3:13
because i get frustrated i prefer
3:16
yeah i managed it and i've done it more
3:18
than once i've made more than one of
3:20
so if i can do it you definitely can
3:24
and keep going how many rows should you
3:28
well that is entirely up to you for how
3:30
much knitting you want
3:33
i've done i don't know about 10 or 15
3:38
but you'll see the reason i know when to
3:40
stop is because i just keep trying it in
3:44
so you just keep trying it until
3:47
you've got it to the length you want for
3:51
and then once you think you've got
3:53
enough knitting you want to knit
3:55
half the stitches so that you end up
3:58
with half the stitches on one cocktail
4:00
stick and half the stitches on the other
4:03
and then you need to trim down your
4:05
cocktail sticks and as you will see they
4:07
can fly everywhere so be careful
4:11
and there you've got what look like two
4:13
little knitting needles
4:15
to go into your bauble obviously
4:18
you can cut a little bit more off if it
4:20
doesn't fit you can see all i'm doing
4:24
i'm checking everything's okay
4:27
once you're happy it is you want to cut
4:31
your ball of yarn leave yourself quite a
4:34
bit of yarn because you don't want it
4:36
and also you can make yourself a little
4:40
so that's what you want to do next just
4:41
use your finger wrap it up
4:44
wrap it round itself just form what
4:46
looks like a little ball of yarn
4:49
and it just looks really nice in the
4:54
and then the length of yarn that you
4:55
started with just cut it short
4:57
you can leave it there that's how you
5:00
you're just trying to make it look in
5:01
proportion and then place it all
5:04
inside your bauble facing the way you
5:08
attach the front of the bauble and make
5:11
sure you're happy with it
5:14
once you are happy with it and it's
5:15
looking really nice you just want to
5:17
attach your string or your ribbon
5:20
or your cotton or your fishing line or
5:22
whatever you're hanging yours up with
5:25
put a knot in it and then it's ready to
5:29
so you could be hanging it on your
5:30
christmas tree you could be hanging it
5:33
you could be placing it in a box as a
5:36
and there you go you've got a great
5:38
bauble great christmas decoration for
5:40
any knitter in your life so
5:44
thank you for watching i hope you've
5:46
enjoyed it and good luck making your
5:48
miniature knitting for your christmas
