in this video i'm going to show you how
0:01
to make a polish star christmas ornament
0:04
really effective really easy
0:07
simply make it with some paper really
0:10
so i'm christine of christine's crafts
0:13
and this channel is dedicated to
0:16
so what are you going to need to make
0:17
one of these well the first thing you're
0:19
going to need are some paper circles
0:21
you're going to need 10 of them and you
0:23
can make them any size you like but the
0:25
one i've made is 4 inches diameter
0:28
and you can make them out of any paper
0:30
copy of paper is what i've used and
0:33
you're going to need some glue i
0:34
recommend tacky glue even though you
0:36
can't read the label on mine
0:38
you're going to need a pencil now use an
0:40
old one because you're going to get it
0:41
covered in glue it does make a bit of a
0:44
you're also going to need some string
0:47
twine or embroidery thread like i've
0:49
used to hang your polish star
0:52
you're going to need a needle for that
0:55
and you're going to need two small beads
0:57
or tiny buttons and they're just to
1:02
so it really doesn't matter which you
1:05
so take one of your circles
1:13
and then fold it in half again
1:16
and what you're doing here is finding
1:17
the center of your circle so if you made
1:20
your circles using compasses
1:23
you'll already know where the center is
1:25
and then you need to take something
1:27
about one inch diameter
1:29
here in the uk i've used a 10 pence coin
1:33
and you're going to draw around it in
1:35
the center of the circle
1:37
don't get too worried when it's not
1:39
exactly precisely in the middle so long
1:41
as it's approximately okay you'll be
1:45
then you need to take your scissors
1:48
cut from the outside edge
1:51
to that center circle
1:54
and you're going to do it along each of
2:01
so you're cutting these quarter sections
2:09
and once you've cut those
2:12
you want to cut again halfway between
2:17
now you could have marked those by
2:19
folding your circle again i don't bother
2:21
i just cut them like this
2:23
and i'm sure you're going to realize you
2:25
could cut more than one circle at a time
2:27
because obviously the next thing i'm
2:30
repeat that for the other nine
2:33
once you've got them all cut
2:35
take one of your circles and apply some
2:38
glue along one edge of one section
2:44
place it point towards the outside of
2:48
at the opposite corner of that section
2:50
and then wrap the paper around it
2:54
can be a little bit fiddly and you just
2:56
get better and better the more you do i
2:58
believe me you're going to do plenty
3:00
so wrap it round until the glue wraps
3:03
around and it's secure you've got a nice
3:07
and then twist your pencil and pull it
3:09
backwards to take it out
3:11
and that's one of your points formed
3:15
so then take your glue and repeat that
3:18
on the next one round
3:20
place it along one side
3:23
take the point of the pencil to the
3:26
opposite side of the section
3:28
with the point pointing towards the
3:30
outside edge of the circle
3:36
see this one decided it didn't want to
3:37
wrap just keep poking it in
3:42
and get that nice tight point on the end
3:45
and then it'll wrap beautifully
3:48
make sure it's secured down
3:50
remove any glue that might have escaped
3:54
and then twist that pencil out
3:57
and keep going so you're going to repeat
3:59
that for all the sections of your circle
4:15
once you've completed all eight
4:19
and repeat the process
4:22
for all of the other circles so in total
4:25
you'll have 10 of these when you're
4:27
finished and you can start assembling
4:33
thread onto your needle
4:35
and then thread it through one of your
4:39
once you've got your bead threaded on
4:41
there you're going to form a knot around
4:43
the bead a loop with a knot so that it
4:49
just make sure it's nice and secure and
4:51
then you can always trim off some extra
4:54
how long your thread is is up to you
4:56
and i make sure mine's plenty long
4:58
enough and then i can always cut it down
5:00
later if i want to make the loop smaller
5:02
that i'm going to hang it up with
5:05
so once you bead secure
5:07
we're going to thread it on the first
5:09
one of these now you'll see i've turned
5:12
and i'm going to come
5:14
from that side from the bottom there
5:17
right through the center
5:21
and pull it right through until the bead
5:24
is against the paper edge like that turn
5:29
place it down on your table get another
5:33
and this time you're going to go the
5:35
opposite way through it
5:37
so you're gonna go from the top through
5:40
so now these two are facing each other
5:45
and then you're gonna repeat
5:47
for the other eight and you're gonna
5:49
keep them all the same way only the
5:51
first one was the other way up
5:53
now you'll see me messing about with the
5:55
thread here making sure it's not wrapped
5:57
around any of the points and it's not
5:58
going to make a problem later your
6:01
thread needs to be running up straight
6:03
through them all with no problems so
6:05
just keep stacking them on until they're
6:10
once they're all on you need to get the
6:16
and that's when the magic can happen
6:19
if you now pull that thread
6:22
you will get your polish star
6:27
but you need to keep it like that
6:30
so for me i found the best way to do
6:33
that is to take the needle and thread it
6:36
through the bead again but remember it's
6:37
got to be in the same direction as the
6:39
first time you threaded it
6:41
and it just allows you then
6:44
to when you pull it tight it will stay
6:49
and that's your polish star
6:51
so all that's left to do is to form your
6:54
hanging loop with your
7:00
and then you can hang it up and it's all
7:05
so you'll see i'm just going to knot
7:06
mine down inside there so that it won't
7:10
and then you can hang it wherever you
7:11
like obviously this is the moment to
7:13
adjust the length to make it exactly the
7:17
and then go make as many as you like you
7:19
can dip them in glitter you can decorate
7:21
them you can use coloured paper the
7:24
so thank you for watching and i hope
7:26
you've enjoyed this video good luck with
7:28
