0:00
hi in this video i'm going to show you
0:02
how to make this christmas sled from
0:05
craft sticks lolli sticks depending
0:08
so easy to make great craft to involve
0:11
make them to hang on your own christmas
0:13
tree make them for friends and family
0:15
decorate them however you like i'm
0:17
christine of christiescrest.com
0:19
and this channel is all about crafting
0:23
so what are you going to need to make
0:24
your sled you're going to need some
0:27
you may have different length ones you
0:29
may have all the same length as you can
0:30
see mine are all the same length so i
0:32
because i'm going to cut some of them up
0:36
you're also going to need some scissors
0:38
and some twine or some string
0:41
make it as fancy as you like and some
0:45
i've got an all-purpose glue here nice
0:48
clear you can use whatever glue you've
0:53
so to start with we need to make the top
0:56
of the sled so mine is three sticks wide
1:00
you can play around with this you could
1:02
make it wider you'll make it narrower
1:05
but because i've only got the same
1:07
length sticks i'm going to cut
1:08
three down to the same length
1:12
you'll notice all my bits fly everywhere
1:14
so do be careful when you're cutting
1:16
craft sticks they do tend to
1:17
fly away and hit people
1:20
so i'm just making sure i've got three
1:26
you can see how i'm doing that just by
1:28
laying the ones i've cut on top of the
1:33
now i've got three i'm going to position
1:35
them next to each other
1:37
because i think it's a nicer design i
1:40
the middle one slightly forward of the
1:44
and now i need to glue them together so
1:48
run some glue along the edge
1:54
just so that they stay together
1:57
and it will just hold them enough i am
2:00
going to add another layer of
2:03
craft stick to secure them this will
2:05
just hold them in place
2:07
make them a little bit more secure
2:12
i'm then going to cut a piece of craft
2:16
short enough so that it will go across
2:18
all three craft sticks
2:20
however it needs to leave a gap on
2:22
either edge for me to put the sides on
2:26
i'm just going to cut it down a little
2:29
and as you can see it covers all three
2:31
it's just going to give it a bit more
2:33
make sure it doesn't fall apart on me so
2:38
and then need to leave it to dry what
2:41
you'll find with these is they work a
2:43
lot better if you just give them a few
2:44
minutes to dry between each bit
2:46
so at this point i've got the seat of my
2:49
sled and i'll just leave it to dry
2:52
once it's dry i can put the sides the
2:57
so just look where i'm going to place
3:00
and then think about where i'm going to
3:01
run glue so i'm just going
3:04
to put a run of glue along either side
3:08
on that bottom face just a nice little
3:13
that i can glue my full length craft
3:19
you can see i'm doing them both at the
3:20
same time because once i've got them
3:23
i'm going to leave this to dry for a few
3:28
you notice i always get the lid back on
3:30
my glue because somehow i end up with it
3:32
otherwise i'm just going to position
3:35
and you can see i've positioned them
3:36
quite a long way forward on the sled
3:39
because obviously the seat would be at
3:42
and when you turn it over that's what
3:46
so get them so you're happy with them
3:48
get them upright and leave them to dry
3:51
once it's all dry turn it over and you
3:54
can see that all you need now
3:56
is the bar for the front so cut a craft
4:00
you would like you can see i've made
4:02
mine a little bit wider than the runners
4:05
and then you just need a little bit of
4:07
glue on top of your runners
4:16
apologies it's difficult to see as i
4:17
tend to bring it up to me so i can see
4:20
and the camera doesn't like it
4:24
then just place the stick across
4:27
the same distance at either side and
4:31
you've got a sled leave it to dry would
4:36
once it's dry we just need to apply
4:40
a string to hang it i'm using a bit of
4:42
garden twine a bit of a rustic look
4:45
so turn it back upside down and apply
4:49
into those edges underneath that bar
4:54
and just allow you'll see there's quite
4:55
a lot of glue come out i do have trouble
4:58
doesn't matter it's clear and it's going
5:00
to be on the underside
5:02
and then put your ends of your twine
5:06
into that glue you might get a little
5:10
just push it into the glue and then i
5:13
really would leave this to dry until
5:17
and turn it over you're all finished now
5:20
you can decorate your sled however you
5:22
like you can cover it in glitter you
5:23
could put photos on it perhaps if it's a
5:25
gift for grandma it could have a photo
5:28
and hang them on your tree and enjoy
5:31
so i hope you've enjoyed watching making
5:33
