0:00
hi in this video i'm going to show you
0:02
how to make some peony flowers out of
0:05
really inexpensive really easy to do i'm
0:08
christine of christinescrafts.com
0:10
and this channel is dedicated to
0:14
so let's get started and think about
0:16
what you're going to need to make your
0:19
the first thing you're going to need is
0:21
a paper napkin or a tissue
0:22
or indeed you're some tissue paper you
0:25
can see it's just perfectly ordinary
0:28
just fold it into four which is how it
0:32
you're also going to need some different
0:34
coloured tissue paper i've chosen yellow
0:37
for the center of your flower
0:39
this is just ordinary tissue paper some
0:42
scissors to cut them out
0:44
a ruler to do your measuring and you're
0:47
going to need some sort of
0:48
wire i've got a piece of florist wire
0:51
here but it really doesn't matter what
0:52
sort of wire you've got
0:54
and if you like and you don't want a
0:56
stem on your flower you could even use a
0:58
stapler to fasten them
1:00
so the first thing we're going to do is
1:02
take that paper napkin you can use it as
1:05
but mine's got a little pattern
1:07
imprinted on around the edge and i want
1:09
to get rid of that so i'm just going to
1:12
it's entirely up to you you can leave
1:16
and i'm now going to cut this napkin
1:20
equal squares now if they're slightly
1:22
rectangular it doesn't matter
1:25
but as long as they're all equal in size
1:28
see i have a little bit of trouble
1:30
separating them don't worry about it
1:32
just cut them and get those four squares
1:37
now obviously this is a paper napkin so
1:40
actually two ply meaning there are two
1:44
very fine tissue paper in each square
1:47
so if you're making this out of ordinary
1:49
tissue paper you might want to consider
1:51
eight squares instead of four
1:55
so there are my four squares all
1:59
you now need to move on i'm making a
2:01
center for your flower so i've chosen
2:05
and because my larger squares ended up
2:09
five inches on each side i'm making
2:12
these smaller squares
2:14
two inches on each side now if you want
2:16
to scale your flowers up or down you can
2:20
large squares that are five inches and
2:24
two inches i'm only making four of these
2:28
and they're just going to form the
2:33
so now take those four yellow squares
2:36
and make sure they're all lined up
2:38
and then just simply fold over one edge
2:41
turn everything over fold again turn it
2:45
and fold again and just keep repeating
2:47
forming a concertina until you've got
2:49
all the way across the square
2:51
make sure you've got some good crisp
2:53
folds and then use your scissors
2:55
to just round the ends it's just going
2:59
edge to your center now take the four
3:04
and do the same thing make a small fold
3:07
turn it over make another small fold and
3:10
work your way across the whole square
3:12
you're forming a concertina
3:15
keep going until you get to the other
3:16
side make sure they're approximately the
3:22
nice crisp folds use the scissors to
3:26
those edges makes a big difference when
3:28
you come to fluff the flower out at the
3:32
so once we've got those both completed
3:35
we need to attach them together so
3:38
you're going to take the larger pink
3:41
open it in the middle and place the
3:44
yellow one inside now make sure you get
3:46
it completely in the middle when you're
3:48
looking end to end so that you end up
3:49
with a symmetrical flower
3:51
and then wrap your wire around that
3:54
center again it can be worth measuring
3:55
to make sure you're exactly in the
3:58
and make sure your wire comes down away
4:01
from the yellow center
4:03
and that's your stem now open up the
4:08
and find that yellow inside
4:11
open it up as best you can and we're now
4:16
those layers of tissue paper this is
4:18
fiddly and the tissue paper is prone to
4:21
so take your time find that first layer
4:26
and gently pull it up
4:29
and then do the same with the second
4:32
gently pull it up and then you're going
4:36
for the other two yellow layers of
4:40
and that will form one side of the
4:42
center of your flower
4:44
and then go to the other side and repeat
4:48
and then you'll end up with that nice
4:52
when your flower is finished
4:56
then you're going to go to your larger
4:58
pieces of tissue paper the pink
5:00
and you're going to repeat that now this
5:04
each layer has actually got two layers
5:06
of tissue paper in it
5:08
so you need to try and separate them it
5:12
a fingernail is incredibly useful um but
5:15
you've got to separate it so you get
5:18
fine layers of tissue paper which gives
5:20
you the nice detail of the flower
5:23
so once you've completed one side you'll
5:26
eight pieces of tissue paper all fluffed
5:30
and forming the petals of your flower
5:34
so each one has been separated out
5:38
and then repeat for the other side again
5:41
all eight layers pulled up
5:45
and forming your petals and then you can
5:49
and adjust them and make it as pretty as
5:52
you like i've got a flower
5:53
all completed you can repeat and make
5:58
and make a beautiful vas of flowers or a
6:00
bunch to give to somebody
6:02
but that's all it takes to make your
6:04
beautiful flower you can see i'm just
6:07
and finishing it off making sure it's as
6:13
so i hope you've enjoyed watching this
