Hi, in this video I'm going to show you how to make a really pretty but simple origami rows
0:06
Really don't need any special skills. You can make one, you can make loads, great for decorations or for a party
0:12
I'm Christine of christinescraft.com and this channel is dedicating to crafting on a budget
0:17
So all you're going to need is a square of paper. I'm using four inches by four inches. You can make them as large or as small as you like
0:24
So the first thing you're going to do is fold your paper in half
0:28
and then you're going to open it up and fold it in half the other way
0:36
Make sure your creases are nice and crisp, run your finger along them
0:39
A finger nail works brilliantly. Then once you've done that you need to turn the paper over which is important and then
0:47
you're going to fold it in half again but this time one corner to the other corner so you form a triangle
0:53
Again crisp lines. up and go to the other corner. And then you're going to do a great little origami move that
1:04
is used in lots of origami which is you open that up and you're now going to use those folds
1:11
to basically collapse your paper in on itself and it will naturally go where you want it to go
1:17
because you've just made those folds. And there you've formed nice little triangle
1:25
Just show you what it looks at the bottom. So make sure that's what you've got in front of you
1:33
Next thing we need to do, once you're short, all your folds are nice and crisp
1:37
is to take one corner and fold it up to the point at the top So fold it up and you should line up beautifully with that top Nice firm Fold
1:53
And then do the same with the front point on the other side
1:58
So you'll see the back triangle is still there flat on the table
2:03
Once you've got them both up there, you're going to take each of those top points and fold them down to the bottom
2:09
bottom. Just make sure you're nice and accurate and that you get nice crisp creases
2:20
And fold that one down too and your points should come together at the bottom
2:24
the same as they came together at the top. And it should look like that
2:33
So now in turn you're going to take each one, open it up and put it up and put it up
2:39
poke your finger into the pocket and then flatten it down to form a square
2:48
It might sound a bit strange but if you watch you will see it's actually quite straightforward
2:53
So repeat to the other side you're going to open up the little pocket
2:58
poke your finger in and flatten it down to form a square
3:07
So you'll see that you've still got the triangle at the back. the triangle at the back and you've now formed those squares on the bottom of the front
3:15
So now turn it over and repeat that process again. So you going to fold each side up to the top point fold those top points down and then in turn you going to open each pocket up and flatten them down So now that how it should look
3:49
I'm just going to show you it. Make sure yours looks the same as mine
3:55
as mine. So then take that top triangle and fold it down onto your squares at the bottom
4:06
And now we're going to go to the bottom of your piece and you can see all that shape and on each
4:12
side there's a triangle there. You need to poke your finger in and then press that triangle
4:20
down flat. This is very difficult to explain but I hope you're watching the video and you can see
4:27
Poke your finger in and then flatten that triangle down. So you've done it on both sides
4:34
and that is what the front of your paper should look like and the back should look like that
4:41
So make sure everything's crisp and flat and that you're happy with it
4:50
and then turn it over. And the triangle, you want to stand it up now
4:56
because that's going to come up to form the centre of your rows. And now we're going to try and open that triangle up on one side
5:06
and pull it back onto the square at the bottom so that we end up with a little bit sticking up at 90 degrees to the original triangle You now going to repeat that with the opposite square So you end up with four triangles sticking up from your base your paper
5:28
And they're going to form the centre of your rows. So take a bit of time and get that right
5:33
Got those four there. The next thing you're going to do is nip the top and twist
5:40
And this is how you're going to form the paper. petals of your rows. It's easiest if you place it in your hand and then twist. Keep twisting
5:49
And you do have to be quite firm with it. Get a nice tight twist in the middle. And there you go, you've formed a flower
6:01
But you're not finished yet. You want to curl your petals on the edge
6:05
Now I'm just using a small screwdriver. Anything you've got that's circular and small
6:11
small and just curl that outer petal and then go around to the next one and curl that
6:18
outer petal and work your weight all the way around until you've formed your rows and you can
6:26
always nip to the middle and twist it a bit more to make it tighter make it how you want yours to
6:31
look so before we finish you just want to talk to you about paper you'll be able to buy
6:36
origami paper and do all sorts of great effects but all i've used here is copy of paper
6:41
Cheap and cheerful. And you can make loads then and it'll still only cost you a few pence
6:47
So thank you for watching. I hope you've enjoyed it. Good luck with your roses
