In this video, I'm going to show you how to do this stitch, which is the triple treble crochet in UK terms
0:06
As you can see, it's a lovely tall stitch. So I'm going to assume you can do chain stitch and you've made your chain as long as you need to from your pattern
0:15
And what you need to do is count from the end. Okay
0:22
So you're counting down to the sixth stitch from where your hook is
0:28
So that's six stitches you're counting down. So you need to count down the six so you know where you're going in through
0:38
And then you need to wrap the yarn round the hook three times
0:44
So you can see that's what I've done. Then through the chain, yarn around the hook and pull it through
0:51
And you should have five stitches on your hook. So just check
0:57
Then do yarn around the hook. and pull it just through the first two
1:01
So you've now got four stitches. Yarn around the hook, pull it through
1:06
You've got three. Yarn around the hook, pull it through two stitches
1:10
You've got two left. Yarn around the hook and pull it through the last two
1:15
Leaving you one stitch on there. One stitch, one loop on there
1:19
So that's it. You've done one whole stitch. So now you going to wrap your yarn round your hook three times again And we going to repeat the whole process So yarn round hook three times
1:34
You can see how you had a bit of trouble. And then in through the next chain along
1:41
And then yarn around the hook. And pull it back through. So you should now have those five stitches
1:53
I keep saying stitches, five loops. And then you're going to do yarn round the hook through the first two loops
2:03
Yarn round the hook through the first two loops. Yarn round the hook through the first two loops
2:11
Yon round the hook through the two remaining loops. And you will see you're forming this really tall stitch
2:19
So you're getting quite a lacy effect. and that the change you left at the beginning have formed the first stitch
2:26
So we'll go through it one more time. Yarn round three times, through the next chain, yarn round and back through
2:35
Yarn round through the first two, yarn round through the next two, yarn round through the next two, yarn round through the last two
2:46
And you just keep going if that is what your pattern requires
2:51
What you often find is that you using this stitch within other stitches to make fancy patterns but you can of course get a nice lacy effect by using it on its own
3:02
So you would just keep going all the way along, which I'm going to do as if by magic
3:08
because I want to show you how to keep going with rows of this so that you don't make any mistakes
3:15
So once you've got to the end, you'll not be surprised to learn that you're going to turn your crochet
3:22
and work your way back the other way. But we want to make sure we keep the same number of stitches
3:28
So to start each row, you need to chain one. Oh, I'm having trouble there
3:37
So look, how easy it is, just undo it. You're going to chain, let's start that again
3:44
One, two, three, four, five chain stitches. And then instead of going through that very end stitch, you're going to go through the next one along because otherwise it'll get wider and wider
4:01
So you're just going to form your triple treble crochet stitch exactly as you did before
4:07
But this time you're working in the top of each of the stitches below
4:14
So just keep working your way along. I left this in but spread it up just so we get to the other end to the other end If you enjoying the video please give it a thumbs up so we help all those other crocheters out there and keep going So when you get to the other end you have worked
4:34
into every single stitch in the top, including the last one. And then if you check, you'll
4:43
realize you haven't finished. If you count mine, I've got 13 stitches on the bottom, but I've only got
4:51
12 on the next row. And that's because you need to work into the top chain of your starting chain from the last row
5:00
You need to do an extra stitch into that top chain. And that's just going to complete your row and keep you with the same number of stitches
5:09
Now if you're a beginner, I recommend you keep counting your stitches. Otherwise you could very easily get wider or indeed narrower depending how you went wrong
5:20
So hopefully that's shown you everything you need and you're seeing what sort of effect you can get with it
5:27
I will show you my completed swatch 2004 just so you can see how it looks
5:32
And it's the sort of thing you might complete to test your gauge or just to practice
5:38
So there you go. That's what it's going to look like. And if you turn it over, you'll find it looks the same on both sides
5:45
Really pretty. And I hope you enjoy using it and doing it
