hi in this video i'm going to show you
0:02
how to make an origami lotus flower just
0:05
really easy you don't need anything
0:07
special i've just used copier paper
0:09
so i'm christine of christinescroft.com
0:11
and this channel is dedicated to
0:14
all you're going to need is a square of
0:16
paper mine's six inches by six inches
0:19
but you can make these any size you like
0:21
first thing you're going to do is fold
0:23
your paper in half one corner to the
0:26
and get a nice crisp crease then you're
0:31
and fold it the other way so now what
0:35
is a cross that goes from each corner to
0:41
and you'll have located the center of
0:45
and now you're going to do the same
0:46
thing to each corner in turn so take one
0:50
fold it up to the center of the square
0:52
which you can now clearly see
0:58
repeat for the next one around and yes
1:02
you guessed it keep working your way
1:04
until all four corners are folded into
1:07
the center of the square
1:13
once you get to this point you've got
1:16
all four of them folded in
1:18
you're going to repeat the whole process
1:22
so take one corner and fold it into the
1:26
now obviously it'll be a little bit
1:27
trickier because everything's a little
1:29
so if you have a little trouble with
1:30
your folds just take your time
1:33
but you are going to do this with all
1:39
if you're using copy of paper like me it
1:43
firm sometimes in the corners
1:47
but you can make it work if you have
1:51
great to use that okay once all four are
1:55
turn the whole thing over
1:59
and you guessed it fold each corner into
2:03
now it really will be tricky this time
2:04
you've got a lot of layers there
2:08
just make sure you've got a nice crisp
2:10
edge on your fold and it'll make the
2:12
whole process a lot easier in a moment
2:14
when you're trying to
2:15
form the actual flower
2:24
making sure everything lines up properly
2:25
and making sure you get a good fold
2:36
so once you're all the way around
2:41
you're going to take your piece of paper
2:45
and then pull those triangles out that
2:50
and you can see you've got that square
2:52
there so now you've got a large triangle
2:55
you're going to fold each one back but
2:58
open it back all the way you're going to
3:02
just fold it over like you can see in
3:08
and you're going to do that for each one
3:10
of them you're working your way around
3:13
you really want those bits that you've
3:15
left folded over to be about the same
3:17
size but you don't need to measure them
3:19
but approximately the same
3:22
and you can see how it's starting to
3:28
some nice crisp folds
3:32
and get all four of them complete
3:35
so once it looks like that turn it over
3:39
and we're going to take the front
3:42
and flatten them down and at the corner
3:46
you will get the bit that sticks up
3:48
so as you move to the second one you'll
3:51
see in one corner you've got those
3:53
nice petals so poke your finger in
3:56
and round it to make a nice petal shape
4:00
so you work your way around in turn
4:02
turning each of those triangles in
4:05
and making a nice curved petal in the
4:08
and you'll be really starting to see
4:10
your lotus flower appearing now
4:13
getting those nice rounded petals
4:18
so then there's only one last step to do
4:22
you've got the triangles down there
4:26
gently curl each one of them up
4:30
now i say gently it's very easy to rip
4:32
these as you're doing it
4:33
if you do rip one don't worry it's not
4:35
the whole thing ruined
4:36
most people will never notice but just
4:41
roll them round and roll them up and
4:43
you'll see i poke my finger into the
4:46
and that really helps get them round and
4:51
so work your way around and get them all
4:53
done and you can see you've really got a
4:57
and the only thing left to do is to curl
4:59
those outer petals out
5:01
now it's worth trying it on a pencil or
5:03
something similar to get a nice
5:05
curl or you can simply just do it with
5:11
it really doesn't matter but as you can
5:13
see you've nearly completed your
5:15
lotus flower so enjoy making yours
5:19
and i hope you make loads of them and
5:20
use them for favors or to decorate your
5:22
table or whatever you've got in mind
5:25
