Felt is a great crafting material and I love finding new ways to use it. I am a member of the Hobbycraft club and they regularly email me with offers and ideas. If you are not a member I recommend it. They have an excellent blog with really diverse crafting ideas. They also email out offers regularly and send you £5 to spend on your birthday (with no minimum spend). One of their recent emails really caught my eye. It was a link to their blog showing you how to make felt succulents.

Their idea was to make the succulents out of green and grey felt and stick them inside a letter. I chose to stick mine inside a star shaped box lid that I got from The Range. It also occurred to me that if I made them out of other colours they would look like flowers. I got some more felt and had a go. I used an air erasable pen to mark the petals onto the felt so I could be a bit more relaxed about my cutting out. The assembly of the flowers was easy but as usual with hot melt glue ‘strings’ of glue were sometimes a challenge. Both stars are now propped up on the sideboard in my dining room and I am enjoying them every day.
I think they work really well and I put some lovely pink flowers into a small plant pot and gave it to my mum who had been poorly. She was really pleased with them and will be able to keep them for much longer than an ordinary bunch of flowers.
They are really easy to make if you have a glue gun but I suspect that you could make them without one if you use a good glue and are patient! These are a craft idea that I really recommend and I am enjoying the results. They are making me feel quite spring like despite the continuing snow outside.
